Heroes of the Storm: How to play Murky

Hi guys! Since I've started playing any MOBA game (or similar game for that matter), one hero has always fascinated me and that would be Murky. Why? Well, I'm going to try to explain everything on him in detail, and I think you'll see what's so amazing about him yourself soon. Why is Murky so different? Well, for one, Murky completely changes the definition of the word squishy. Usually when a hero hasn't got much HP and is very easily killed, you'd call him squishy. But all it takes to kill a Murky is a couple of hits and a nice aimed spell. If it's a single target spell it's even easier. There is a reason for that. Murky has an egg. If his egg is alive, it's respawn time is around 4 seconds.

You can see the egg right next to him. When Murky dies, he simply respawns next to an egg, but if the egg is dead, he takes as much time as any other hero to respawn, so be careful, if you see a red exclamation mark above Murky's head, that means your egg is dead and you need to lay a new one (by pressing D hotkey). There is one more reason. When killed, Murky yields only 1/4 exp of a normal hero kill, meaning you have to kill him four times before you can say it was worth your time trying to kill him. You see, at the start, Murky sucks. He's best left alone or with a healer on a lane if you're laning against an assasin. BUT, as Murky develops, he soon becomes stronger than any other hero, but other players take it for granted. You know what happens when you take Murky for granted? This happens.

Murky has 3 basic spells like any other hero and two very different ultimate abilities, I'll explain each of them in detail. 1. Slime is an instant AoE spell that slows and damages enemies around you. It's not that dangerous, but it's cooldown is small and it can really help when you're chasing someone, especially in a team. It also serves very well if you're running away, especially combined with his third ability I'm going to mention soon. 2. Pufferfish is Murky's secret weapon. At the start, it's relatively weak, it moderately damages a creep wave and it takes time to charge up. It can also be destroyed if attacked three times which can be boosted by talents later, but I go for other talent buils. Later, at your third talent set to choose, you can choose for your pufferfish to deal more damage in a larger area. Combined with some other talents (I'm also going to mention later) this thing becomes a large problem for your team. With this ability, Murky is literally able to break wall with two towers, healing well and another tower in less than 20 seconds and if not taken care of, he'll break a fort without any problems too. Also, it's worth mentioning Pufferfish is at later stages able to one shot entire creep wave! 3. Safety Bubble renders Murky invulnerable, but Murky can't use his abilities. That's just fine, it's a nice escaping mechanism and can help you in chasing if you use right talents. Heroics: 1. March of the murlocs is universal ability which spawns A LOT of murlocs running in a direction you decide, sticking onto heroes and buildings, slowing them and damaging them. If you noticed your enemies simply don't allow you to push at all, this would be the right choice, other than that, it does half the damage to buildings, so it's not that great. 2. Octo-Grab is a single target ability which holds an enemy hero at one place for a couple of seconds while Murky hits it with a fish. Before level 20 (where you get an upgrade for it) it's just there to hold of an enemy hero while running away or to hold any important enemy hero from participating in a fight. At level 20, his heroic starts dealing nice damage and combined with a Pufferfish you can kill many heroes without a problem. How to kill with Pufferfish-Octo Grab combo? Well, this one is rather simple. When you see an enemy hero, preferably not at full HP, cast Pufferfish and ofter half a second ult them, also, make sure that hero you're ulting is inside Pufferfish's range, otherwise you failed. After Murky finishes beating the shit out of our unlucky test subject, Pufferfish explodes dealing nice amount of damage which usually kills him. If not, you can always chase him while raping Q to slime the shit out of him. If you're with a friendly hero and do this, you can be sure your victim is going to be dead. Talent build If you do a wrong talent build, you can kiss owning Murky goodbye. But that's why I am here, if you build like this, you shouldn't have any problems with playing it and getting similar score like I did above :) 1. Bubble Breeze is my favorite from 1st talent group, it's a must because it grants you movement speed while using safety bubble. This increases your chance of escaping and makes your enemies think you're not even worth chasing for 1/4 kill. Other than that, you can also use safety bubble to get near a hero that's trying to escape, then sliming him and hitting, but keep in mind that's a rather risky tactic. 4. Living The Dream is a very nice boost to all of your abilities and longer your stay alive, the bigger the boost gets. It's max value is 15% while min value is 5% meaning you still have a bonus even after you get killed. 7. Compressed Air is a huge boost for your Pufferfish ability and if you wanna rape, this is what you gotta take. Explosion radius is increased and damage is increased. Comined with our previous talent pick, this becomes a deadly tool of destruction. 10. Octo-Grab is my personal favorite, but this is up to you, both ultimates are explained above so you do the math yourself. 13. Bubble Machine greatly increases your survivability even if you don't notice it. It reduces your Safety Bubble's cooldown so you can run/chase more. If you prefer, you can go for Wrath of Cod as well, this adds even more damage to your combo, but I'm not entirely sure it's worth it. 16. Slimy Pufferfish is very well combined with Wrath of Cod, but even without it, it can be simply used as a remote Slime. This way you can slow your running enemies or simply deal more damage to the buildings/minions. 20. ...And A Shark Too! is an upgrade for Octo-Grab causing it to cause 4000% more damage. Well, Octo-Grab doesn't really deal much damage so these 4000% turn out to be nice damage, but nothing impressive if incorrectly used. After you've acquired this talent, you can do Pufferfish - Octo-Grab combo without an issue. So let's sum it up: Cons: - low health -easy to kill - after out of Safety Bubble, no escape mechanism Pros:

- HUGE siege damage if used properly - same goes for hero damage - at later stages his escape mechanism can be used more often - gives 1/4 exp - respawns very fast, despite the level (if egg is not destroyed) I hope I've explained everything well here. See you in the Nexus! :)
